Horoomon, a Japanese word for grilled offal, derives from a term meaning “something to be thrown away.” During the Japanese colonial period, many Koreans in Japan survived by eating discarded animal intestines. Once looked down upon, horoomon has since become a beloved dish. For the Zainichi Korean community, however, it represents far more than food—it embodies a century of resilience, identity, and history. The film follows prominent Zainichi activist Shin Sugok as she confronts anti-Korean hate speech and traces the intertwined stories of three generations of Korean Japanese women.
